50,000 years ago, the last great wave of our species, Home Sapiens, left Africa. Some of them went to southern Europe. The cave art and sculptures they created over thousands of years are the inspiration for this series.

I have tapped into a primary source of human creative expression from a time before we formed our deep divisions of tribe, race, religion, and nation. Using their motifs and symbols, adding my own, and layering rich colours and patterning, I'm striving to create complex and fascinating landscapes. These are liminal spaces where the viewer can go on a journey, exploring what it meant to be human then, and what it means to be human now.
